Creative Writing Classes

As an experienced creative writing tutor and author mentor, I offer in-person creative writing classes. Writing in Nature workshops take place seasonally in the beautiful woodland space of Little Elses, near Sevenoaks, Kent. These creative writing classes harness the power of nature and the serenity of an outdoor natural setting to bring a more mindful approach to writing.

It is surprising what swapping the four walls of a classroom can do for creative inspiration. The workshops are as much about mindfulness as they are about writing; being in nature and absorbing yourself in a beautiful woodland setting is both calming and inspiring.

We work with our surroundings to collect observations, pairing these with thoughts, feelings, and memories. I believe we are all writers inside.

At the creative writing classes, we also draw on experiences and emotions, both in general and on the day. They provide an opportunity to awaken the senses and tune in to what is around us, making connections and evoking memories. And who doesn’t love spending time with the trees?

The Writing in Nature workshops are for anyone who would like to explore their connection with nature through words. I invite you to come along, take off your shoes, and feel the Earth beneath your feet, listen, look, smell, and just be.

Little Elses is a beautiful outdoor space near the village of Weald in Kent, accessible just off the A21. I chose this setting not only because of the private woodland, but also because I love the ethos of the custodians of this land.

“The poetry evening in the woods was a very enjoyable event. Nikki led it very well keeping it low key and experiential. Great atmosphere with very friendly group. We all read out our poems and enjoyed the groups discussion and sharing of ideas. Thanks Nikki.”

“I attended a poetry workshop in the woods with Nikki and I had the most wonderful time. I’m not usually a poetry writer, but Nikki led the group in such a way that it didn’t matter, and I came away with a new found appreciation for poetry, and for being more present in my surroundings. I will be taking what I learnt and practising elsewhere for sure. Highly recommend!”
